The best anchorage with the meltemi is in front of the long beach (1), NE of the loading chute. Anchor on 3-5m on a sandy bottom, good holding. In the approach, care must be taken of a reef, roundabout 300 m S of the little island in front of Yali. The bay north of this island (2) offers some protection against S-winds. Another reef exists 0.5sm off the SW tip, stretching alongside of the island into the bay. With the meltemi, Yali is the much better choice than Paloi and even an alternative, if you possibly will not be able to reach Ormos Kamares on Kos with the violent gusts. The long beach invites for a walk, our boatdog loved to run here after a long turn and to explore the surroundings.
